Whilst the monarch’s monogram is official, monograms for other members of the Royal Family are for private use and, in Scandinavia in particular, are used more than individual Coats of Arms.
The announcement describes the new cyphers. Princess Josephine’s 'J' monogram is depicted as a bold cursive with a "poetic and vivid expression", while Prince Vincent’s 'V' monogram is composed of a "solid, classic left section" combined with a "playful, forward-looking double stroke to the right".
As with other royal monograms, Christian V’s Crown is placed over the initial.
The monograms were created, not by HM Queen Margrethe this time, but by graphic designer Charlotte Søeborg Ohlsen with specialised assistance from graphic designer Mads Quistgaard and graphic designer Cecilie Kirkeskov Knudsen.
