I will be returning to work in a few days time after nearly a year at home on furlough and under lockdown. My plans are generally low scale and I can only promise a continuation of the 'Curious Case' Blogs and a major series on Orders of Chivalry. I may, if I have time, look at previous versions of Royal Arms other than those of the UK and slowly look back at the development of Royal Arms in the Middle Ages.
The one main event to await with baited heraldic breath, though, is the 18th Birthday of Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, granddaughter of HM Queen Elizabeth II and elder child of TRH The Earl and Countess of Wessex. This will mean whether she remains Lady Louise (which was her parents' initial wish) or chooses to change to her legal name which is HRH Princess Louise of Wessex. However, this idea is probably in vain unless and until her father is reassigned the Dukedom of Edinburgh, as promised, although there are rumours already that she may be taking on a higher profile within 'The Firm'. Either way, it should mean that we can expect her to be assigned a Royal Coat of Arms with a 5-pointed Label, as her cousins have. We will have to wait until towards the end of the year, though, as her Birthday is on 8th November.
If anybody has any suggestions or requests, please feel free to contact me.
Above all other things, take care.
